COMPLIANCE UPDATE: MASSACHUSETTS SALES TAX INCREASING ON 8/1/09
On August 1, 2009, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will raise the sales tax rate to 6.25%.
Previously all sales by wine retailers (not including restaurants) in MA were exempt from sales tax. Alcoholic beverage buyers from neighboring states were encouraged to buy in MA by the lack of sales tax.
As of August 1, consumers in MA should now be charged 6.25% sales tax, based on the retail wine price.
As a reminder and commitment to meet all legal obligations, your Vintage Funds account must now include the additional MA sales tax in your balance to support your order volume to MA via 3Tier shipping.
