COMPLIANCE UPDATES: CA & TN
California Sales Tax Change
Effective April 1, 2009, the California state sales tax will increase by 1% for all district tax rates.
Tennessee Direct Shipping Update
Legislation to legalize the direct shipment of wine to consumers in Tennessee from out-of-state sellers was approved today by a senate committee. The bill, sponsored by Sen. Paul Stanley, requires that out-of-state sellers obtain a $300 Tennessee license. The license allows up to 12 nine-liter cases of wine per year to Tennessee citizens for personal consumption. We will keep everyone updated as we await for Tennessee to finalize the license application process.
NEWVINEONLINE UPDATES:
Inventory Adjustment Report & State Compliance Map
As part of our ongoing efforts to continually improve NewVineOnline, two changes will be made to the site on Sunday, March 29th.
The Inventory Adjustment Report on the "Products" tab will be updated so that the quantities reflect the nature of the inventory adjustment. Any adjustment that causes on-hand inventory numbers to increase will be listed as positive numbers. Similarly, adjustments causing on-hand numbers to decrease will be listed as negative numbers.
The State Compliance Information Map on the "Compliance" tab has been updated. States that allow direct shipping with no permit required were previously listed in the "Other" category on the map key. This has been changed and "Direct - No Permit" is now a category on the map legend.
